Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Life with our Kitten

We have now had our kitten for a whole week now!
We had been going back and forth saying "It's a boy!" "It's a girl!" but we finally got to the vet who told us that it is a girl!! (Poor Dad.) Because of that factor the name we had chosen (Stormy) no longer fits.  So instead because she is so small we named her Milli.

We've been kinda worried that she isn't settling in well.
What do you think?.......

Insane

That is the word that would best describe us at this moment.

We have brought this......

Stormy & Audrey
(the cat not Audrey)

Into our house.

Yes, we know, you don't have to tell us.

We're insane.

A six week old kitten with our two, grumpy, middle-aged Cats.
( for those of you who don't know Twitchy died in January)

Yup......

We found him in a storm drain in the parking lot of the grocery store.  It took 30 minutes and half a can of wet food before we caught him.

In the last 36 hours he has resided in our home he has already:
*let us pick him up   *pet him
*purred   *begun to play
*gotten stuck behind the piano   *made the acquaintance of the above grumpy cats (did NOT go well)

Of course his meeting with the grumpy cats deserves its own paragraph.  Cecile sniffed him a few times and got her tail as bushy as a bottle brush before she promptly hissed.
Red didn't even have to sniff a few times before she decided that the cat was pure evil.   She hissed and growled her head off.

Christmas Piano Recital

Out piano recital was earlier in December, but we had to learn how to get the video from the video camera to the computer.  Better late than never ;0)

We usually play in the church auditorium on a 9 foot Grand!, but this year we were in the choir practice room because the auditorium was set up for the Christmas music service. (The choir sang Vivaldi's Gloria and did an excellent job.)

We have a great teacher and have learned so much from her.  Thanks Mrs. M.

We each played three songs.  Here is Jacqueline playing Joy by Tom Geron.

Here I am playing Magnificent Monarch by Melody Bober.

Greetings from Metalmouth!

Jacqueline got her braces yesterday morning!  Get used to this look.  She will have it for the next two years.  We told her with any luck she will have nice straight teeth for her sweet sixteen!   She has had some pain but it seems to be diminishing. Jacqueline has also had some problems eating. She can't seem to close her mouth enough to chew.  But even that is getting better. She had some toast for breakfast, albeit cut up, which is better then yesterday.  For dinner she had leftover chocolate frosty!

Our Ron Paul Box Came!

Look what we got!

One yard sign  and ...

 Two t-shirts.

 Now for the fashion show.

My shirt says "Ron Paul for President Defender of the Constitution" on the front and the Constitution on the back.  Jacqueline's says "Ron Paul 2012 Revolution". We are both racking our brains for places to wear them. Mom has us thinking about a logical argument to give, as opposed to a bunch of random thoughts, if someone should ask us why they should vote for Paul.  I think Jacqueline and I will be watching a few videos to make sure we have our figures straight.  Lets just pray there isn't as essay in our future.  I just love being home schooled!

( Jacqueline Note: I  went into cardiac arrest when I found out that Audrey bought and intend on wearing a t-shirt, but  I'm fine now, thanks for asking.   A trip to the ER was not necessary.)

School!

Well, it is that time of year again.  This year my baby sister is starting high school.  You have absolutely no idea how hard that is to comprehend!

Mom has Jacqueline doing Algebra and Physical Science with Abeka online class.  After Jacqueline finishes whizzing through her New World history, Mom wants her to do Omnibus I from Veritas Press. (This means that Jacqueline will be studying long dead Greeks and Romans.  Anybody want to guess how she feels about that?).  She is doing Logic also from Veritas Press.  Bible is a study of the Westminster Catechism.  English is ' Windows to the World - An Introduction to Literary Analysis'  from the Institute for Excellence in Writing.  She will also be doing a Composition class later in the year from them.

Me?  I am clepping classes and doing some fun stuff.  Omnibus II ( Church Fathers through the Reformation),  Anatomy from Apologia, Logic and Literature are the same as Jacqueline, Bible is a doctrines class from R.C.Sproul.

And of course, no school day would be complete without the 45 mins. to 1hr. of piano practicing!  Right now, I am just reviewing last year's pieces and scales.  Jacqueline took piano lessons over the summer so she is actually practicing.  But that won't last for long.  Piano lessons officially start on Thursday.  So more on that later this week.

A Tale of Three Purses

We are hoping to visit some friends this fall who live near a lot of historic sites.  I saw a pattern for a purse which was supposed to be small and light enough for site-seeing but sturdy enough to carry camera and guidebook.  So I decided to make Mom, Jacqueline, and myself coordinating bags. The pattern was relatively easy to follow and a lot of fun to make.  However, by purse #3, I was more then ready to be done and move on to something new!  You can't tell from the pictures but these purses are really small, as in 9 by 7 & 1/2 inches!

Mom wanted the purse as shown in the pattern, i.e. light and dark green with red accents.  Jacqueline's favorite color is purple so she got a dark purple and rose bag with light green accents.  My favorite color is blue so I had light and dark blue also with light green accents.

I still have to decided what to do about handles.  We thought about pre-made wooden handles but they are much to big.  The pattern actually calls for a braided handle with eight different strands of yarn, but I have reservations about its strength.  I sure I'll figure something out before our trip, although with my record it might be the night before!
